Confirm the history matches what the listing claims, and look for gaps or sudden changes in tone that suggest the account changed hands before.
The email address and password first, then enable two-factor on your own device, then revoke every connected app under Settings → Safety & Privacy. Check that no automated posting tool retains access, which is common on accounts previously used for promotion.
Most subreddits ban overt promotion regardless of account history, and moderators are practised at spotting accounts whose posting style changes abruptly. An aged account does not exempt you from subreddit rules — it only means you can participate where karma or age gates would otherwise block you.
