Transfer Best Practices

The transfer itself is where most deals go wrong. A botched handover can lead to disputes, lost accounts, or even platform bans. Here are the platform-specific best practices for a clean transfer.

General rules (all platforms)

1. Never transfer until escrow is funded

Wait for the buyer's funds to be confirmed in escrow. Until then, no transfer.

2. Use the deal chat for everything

All credentials, all instructions, all confirmations go in the EscrowGuard deal chat. This creates the audit trail that protects both of you.

3. Don't transfer on a Friday night

If something goes wrong, support is slower on weekends. Transfer Monday–Thursday.

4. Have a 60-minute window

Both parties should be online and responsive for 60 minutes after transfer. If the buyer hits a snag, the seller is there to help.

YouTube

If it's a Brand Account (recommended)

1. Buyer gives seller their Google account email. 2. Seller adds buyer as Owner in Brand Account settings. 3. Seller waits 7 days (Google's cooldown), then transfers primary ownership. 4. Buyer removes seller from the Brand Account.

If it's a personal account

1. Seller creates a new Google account specifically for the channel. 2. Seller moves the channel to that Google account. 3. Seller shares the new Google account credentials with the buyer. 4. Buyer changes password, recovery email, and 2FA.

AdSense delinking

If the channel has linked AdSense, the seller must delink before transfer (otherwise the seller's AdSense gets the buyer's revenue). Buyer relinks to their own AdSense after transfer.

Discord

Standard ownership transfer

1. Buyer joins the server. 2. Seller promotes buyer to Administrator. 3. Wait 7 days (Discord requires the new owner to be a member for 7 days before transfer). 4. Seller transfers ownership: Server Settings → Members → ⚙️ next to buyer → Transfer Ownership.

After transfer

• Seller removes their own admin permissions (or buyer does it).
• Update the server's #welcome channel and @everyone role description.
• Update the server's icon and name if rebranding.

Telegram

Channel ownership transfer

1. Buyer joins the channel. 2. Seller promotes buyer to admin with all permissions. 3. Wait 24 hours (Telegram's cooldown). 4. Seller transfers ownership: Channel Settings → Administrators → Transfer Ownership.

After transfer

• Seller becomes a regular admin — remove them.
• Update channel description and profile photo if needed.
• The buyer now has full control.

Telegram is the simplest platform for transfer. The whole process takes ~30 minutes (mostly waiting for the cooldown).

Twitter / X

Twitter doesn't have a built-in ownership transfer. The standard approach: 1. Seller changes the email to a fresh email address (e.g. '[email protected]'). 2. Seller changes the password to a temporary one. 3. Seller disables 2FA. 4. Seller shares: login email + temp password. 5. Buyer logs in, immediately changes password, recovery phone, and re-enables 2FA. Note: Twitter may temporarily lock the account on email change. The seller should be available to confirm the change via the old email.

TikTok

Same as Twitter — no native ownership transfer. 1. Seller changes login email and password. 2. Seller disables 2FA. 3. Buyer logs in and updates everything. TikTok is strict about IP changes. The buyer should ideally log in from the same country/region as the seller, or TikTok may flag the login.

Post-transfer checklist

After transfer, the buyer should immediately:

• [ ] Change recovery email to their personal email
• [ ] Enable 2FA
• [ ] Take screenshots proving ownership (for the deal chat)
• [ ] Wait 24 hours before changing content/uploading (avoid platform fraud detection)

After 24 hours of clean ownership, the buyer clicks Confirm delivery in EscrowGuard. Funds release to the seller. Deal complete.
