What a Discord Early Supporter badge is worth to buyers
Short version: Discord gave the Early Supporter badge to everyone who bought Nitro before 10 October 2018, and nobody can earn it now. There's no official price. What an account sells for depends on its age, its username and any servers it owns. Discord's rules forbid buying and selling accounts, so the account can be disabled, and you should keep your payment in escrow until you've checked everything.
Why the Early Supporter badge matters
The Early Supporter badge is one of the rarer profile badges on Discord. It went to people who bought Nitro before 10 October 2018, and Discord no longer hands it out, so the number of accounts that have it can only shrink. That fixed supply is why people pay for it.
For collectors and server owners it's a status symbol, because it shows the account has been around since Discord's early years. Some buyers want it for that reason and some simply want an old account.
How to check an Early Supporter badge is real
Confirm the badge before any money moves:
- Open the account's profile and find the badge row next to the username, where badges such as Nitro and HypeSquad also appear.
- Hover over the badge. Discord shows its name in a tooltip, and it should read "Early Supporter".
- Ask for a live screen share instead of a screenshot. A screenshot is easy to edit, while a live view of the seller hovering over the badge is much harder to fake.
- Check when the account was created. The badge only went to Nitro buyers before 10 October 2018, so the account has to be older than that. Discord user IDs contain the creation date, and plenty of bots and websites will read it for you.
- Use a bot that reads badges from Discord's API. The Early Supporter flag is part of an account's public data, so if the bot doesn't show it, the badge isn't real.
If the badge doesn't come up through the API, you're probably looking at an edited image. Use more than one of these checks.
How much is the Early Supporter badge worth?
There's no official price list. These things move the price:
- Accounts from 2015 or 2016 usually sell for more than ones made in 2018.
- A short or single-word username draws buyers, although Discord's policy specifically forbids buying or selling usernames.
- Connections to YouTube, Twitch or Spotify belong to the seller and should be removed before the handover, so don't pay for them.
- An established server owned by the account can add a lot, and it can be moved to you with Transfer Ownership.
- An active Nitro subscription is paid with the seller's card and will normally be cancelled. The Early Supporter badge stays either way.
Asking prices vary widely, and plenty of listings are scams or wishful thinking. Compare similar accounts before you decide, and treat any asking price as the start of a negotiation.
Is buying a Discord account safe?
It's risky, and precautions only reduce the risk.
Discord's Terms of Service forbid selling, licensing, lending or transferring an account or username without Discord's written approval. Its Platform Manipulation Policy also says not to buy or sell accounts, usernames, servers, server permissions or vanity URLs. If Discord spots a sale, it can disable the account.
The main risks are these:
- The seller takes your money and never delivers, or delivers a different account.
- The original owner recovers the account through the old email or phone number, even after you change the password.
- Discord bans the account because it suspects a sale.
So keep the payment in escrow with EPICSWP until you've logged in, checked the account and changed the login details.
How to buy a Discord account safely, step by step
This order keeps the risk down:
- Check the seller's profile, past deals and reviews, and how long they've been selling.
- Agree on the price, what's included (email, connections, servers) and how the handover will work.
- Open a deal on EPICSWP. You pay, EPICSWP holds the money, and the seller hands over the login in the deal chat.
- Log in and check the badge, the account's age and anything else the listing promised.
- Change the email and password, turn on 2FA and remove the seller's phone number.
- Confirm the deal once everything checks out. That's when the money is released to the seller.
If something is wrong, open a dispute before you confirm. A moderator reviews the deal chat and the evidence and decides.
Discord account recovery after a sale: the biggest risk
Changing the email and password doesn't close every door. The seller may still be able to claim the account through Discord support with things only the original owner has, such as the original email address or receipts for past Nitro payments in their name.
You can make it harder:
- Change the email to one you control. It's the first step, though the old address may still count in a support claim.
- Turn on 2FA so a password reset alone isn't enough to get in.
- Ask the seller to hand over or close the original email account. Not every seller will agree.
- Don't plan on moving the badge to a fresh account. Badges stay with the account they were awarded to.
You can't rule out recovery completely. Escrow protects you during the handover, not months later, which is why a seller with a long, clean record is worth paying a little more for.
How to transfer Discord ownership (server and account)
If the account owns a server, move the server to your own main account before you confirm the deal:
- Log in to the purchased account with the details the seller gave you.
- Open Server Settings and go to Members.
- Find your own account in the list. It has to be a member of the server.
- Click the three dots next to it and choose Transfer Ownership.
- Confirm the transfer.
Once that's done, the server is yours even if the original account is recovered later. That's the main reason to move any server that matters before you confirm.
The account itself has no transfer button. Taking it over just means changing the login details.
How to price a Discord server
When you value a server, with or without the account, look at:
- Active members, which count for more than the total.
- Daily messages, members online and how often events run.
- Income from a paid tier or shop, but only if it will keep coming in after the handover. Ask how payouts are set up.
- The topic. Gaming and trading communities tend to attract more buyers.
- How well known the server's name is.
Selling a server breaks Discord's Platform Manipulation Policy just as selling an account does, so the same risk applies. Compare prices with EPICSWP's Discord server listings, and judge each server by how active it is.
How Nitro boosts affect value
Members boost a server with Nitro to give it perks such as better audio quality and more emoji slots. A server with plenty of boosts is attractive because it shows members care enough to pay for it.
Boosts belong to the members who give them, though. They can move or cancel them at any time, so a server's boost level can drop the day after you buy it. If the seller boosts their own server, expect those boosts to leave with them. Value the community, and treat the current boost level as temporary.
Discord Partner badge vs Early Supporter
The Partnered Server Owner badge is a different thing. It goes to owners of servers in Discord's Partner Program, so it says something about a server and nothing about the account's age.
If an account has both badges, ask what happens to the partnership after a handover before you pay for it. Discord decides which servers stay in the program.
How to check a Discord account's age
You can check when an account was created in a few ways:
- Open the profile. Under "Member Since", Discord shows when the account joined.
- Use a bot. Moderation bots such as Dyno have a user-info command that shows when an account was registered.
- Use a website that reads the creation date from the user ID.
For an Early Supporter account, the creation date has to be before October 2018.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Early Supporter badge rare?
Yes. Only people who bought Nitro before 10 October 2018 have it, and it can't be earned now. Discord hasn't published how many accounts have it.
Can I buy a Discord account without getting banned?
Buying an account breaks Discord's terms, so the risk never goes away. Avoid spam and anything else that draws attention, but nobody can promise the account will last.
What's the difference between the Early Supporter and Nitro badges?
The Nitro badge shows while an account has an active Nitro subscription. The Early Supporter badge is separate and permanent. An account can have both.
How do I protect myself when selling a Discord account?
Sell through escrow so the buyer's payment is held before you hand anything over. Describe the account accurately, transfer any servers you agreed to and don't try to recover the account afterwards. The FAQ has more on how deals and fees work.
Can I transfer the Early Supporter badge to another account?
No. Badges stay with the account they were awarded to, which is why people sell the whole account.
