How Fortnite accounts change hands

Everything a Fortnite player owns sits on an Epic Games account: the outfits, the V-Bucks, the battle passes and any Save the World progress. Consoles only link to it. So when you buy a Fortnite account, what you take over is that Epic account and the email behind it.

Before you pay for a Fortnite account

OG skins and the Black & Gold style

Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper came back in the OG Season Shop in December 2024, so owning them no longer proves a 2017 account. Epic gave the original owners a Black & Gold style that later buyers can't get. If a listing says OG, ask to see that style in the locker.

Linked consoles and logins

Open the Linked accounts page with the seller on a call. A PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Google, Apple or Facebook login left attached is a way back in. Removing a console link has a catch: linking another account of the same console later needs a restriction removal, which Epic allows once every 365 days.

Where the V-Bucks are

V-Bucks bought on Nintendo Switch stay on Switch. Look at the balance on the platform you will play on, and check it isn't negative after refunded purchases.

Bans and tournaments

Ask about past bans. Fortnite's competitive rules bar accounts that were bought, gifted or transferred, so a bought account is for casual play.

Accounts made on a console

Some console players have an Epic account that was created automatically, with no email or password. The seller has to finish setting it up with an email before it can be handed over at all.

How to buy a Fortnite account safely

1Pick the Fortnite account you want and put your questions to the seller in the deal chat before paying.
2Click Buy with Escrow Protection and pay the price plus the 6% escrow fee. EPICSWP holds the money; the seller doesn't receive it yet.
3The seller hands over inside the deal chat, which is checked for common scam patterns.
4Change the Epic email using the code sent to the seller's inbox, remove their linked logins, turn on your own two-factor and use Sign out everywhere. Do all of it while your payment is still held.
5Confirm receipt once everything matches, which releases the payment to the seller. If something is wrong, open a dispute and a moderator decides.

Selling a Fortnite account

Show the locker, the Linked accounts page and the V-Bucks balance on each platform, and note the Epic Account ID from the settings, which never changes. If you call Renegade Raider or Aerial Assault Trooper OG, include the Black & Gold style.

Epic only lets the email change once every 90 days, so be online to pass on the code when the buyer pays. The money is yours once they confirm receipt.

Create a free listing

Epic's Terms of Service say you can't sell, give away or trade your Epic Games account, and Epic can restrict or ban accounts that change hands. Escrow keeps your payment safe from the seller. It can't stop Epic acting on the account.
