How to buy a TikTok account safely

A TikTok account with real followers can be worth buying, but the market is full of fake followers, restricted accounts and scams. Check these things before you pay.

In short

Use escrow, judge followers by engagement, check the account's status and history, and never pay outside the platform. TikTok's Terms of Service forbid transferring an account without TikTok's permission, so TikTok can act on a sold account, and escrow only protects your payment.

Step 1: Check follower quality

Don't trust the follower count on its own. Compare it with:

• likes per video
• views per video
• comments per video, and whether they read like real people
• follower growth over time (steady growth looks organic, sudden spikes usually mean bought followers)

There's no universal benchmark, so compare with similar accounts in the same niche.

Step 2: Check monetization, and what won't transfer

The seller's monetization doesn't move to you. The Creator Fund was replaced by the Creator Rewards Program, which pays for videos of at least a minute. To join, the account needs 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and the person needs to be 18 or older, live in an eligible country and pass identity checks, so the seller's enrollment doesn't carry over. TikTok Shop and LIVE gifts are personal too. Ask the seller to show:

• any Creator Rewards earnings in TikTok Studio
• TikTok Shop sales, if the account sells products
• LIVE gift earnings, if the account goes live

Step 3: Check the account's age

An older account with a steady history is easier to judge. Check the date of the earliest videos, and ask the seller to show the creation date on a screen share.

Step 4: Check for shadow-bans

A shadow-banned account's videos stop appearing in the For You feed. Check:

• views per video: far below what the follower count suggests can mean a restricted account
• whether the account shows up when you search its @username
• whether its videos appear in hashtag searches
• the Account status page (Settings > Account > Account status), which lists violations and videos kept off the For You feed

Step 5: Review the video history

Look through the last 30 days of videos:

• regular posting suggests someone actually runs the account
• spammy or low-effort content is a red flag
• check for Community Guidelines violations
• check for videos removed over copyright

Step 6: Use escrow

• The seller's Creator Rewards enrollment stays with the seller. You'd have to qualify yourself.
• You'd set up your own TikTok Shop.
• Past revenue doesn't promise future earnings.

Red flags

• The follower count doesn't match the engagement.
• Followers jumped suddenly at some point.
• Views are low compared with the follower count.
• The seller won't screen-share the analytics or the Account status page.
• The seller pushes you to pay outside the platform.
• The account has Community Guidelines violations.
• The price is far below similar accounts.
