Aegis now helps moderators review dispute evidence

We've added Aegis Evidence Intelligence, a change to how dispute evidence is reviewed on EPICSWP.

The problem

When a buyer or seller opens a dispute, they upload screenshots, chat logs and other evidence. Until now, moderators reviewed all of it by hand: reading every screenshot, comparing it with the chat history and looking for inconsistencies.

That worked, but it was slow, and different moderators sometimes reached different conclusions about similar cases.

What Aegis Evidence Intelligence does

When evidence is uploaded to a dispute, Aegis, EPICSWP's assistant, goes through it and prepares notes for the moderator.

1. Looks for signs of manipulation

Aegis looks for:

• screenshots that appear edited, such as mismatched fonts or timestamps
• images spliced together from other sources
• images that were also uploaded to other disputes
• AI-generated content, where it can be detected

2. Checks consistency

Aegis compares the evidence with:

• the original listing description
• the deal chat
• platform data, where it's available
• other disputes involving the same people

The moderator can see where the evidence matches what was agreed, and where it doesn't.

3. Adds a confidence score

Each piece of evidence gets a confidence score from 0 to 100. Moderators see the score and the reasoning behind it.

4. Points out suspicious patterns

For example:

• the same screenshot uploaded to three different disputes
• an "edited at" timestamp that doesn't fit the claim
• a login IP that doesn't match the location someone claims

Aegis marks these for the moderator to look at.

How this helps

For buyers and sellers

• Moderators spend less time sorting evidence and more time on the decision.
• Every case gets the same checks, which should make outcomes more consistent.
• Edited or reused evidence is more likely to be caught.

For moderators

• They can spend their time on the hard cases.
• They see Aegis's notes next to the original evidence.
• Every Aegis analysis is logged, so there's a record of what it found.

For scammers

• Edited evidence is harder to slip past review.
• Reusing the same fake screenshot across several deals gets noticed.

What Aegis doesn't do

• It doesn't decide disputes. A human moderator reviews the deal chat and the evidence and makes every decision. Aegis's notes are one input.
• It doesn't ban or suspend anyone. A low score only means the moderator looks more closely.

Aegis's work isn't limited to disputes. It also watches deal chats for common scam patterns, such as requests to move a deal off EPICSWP.

If a deal goes wrong, either side can open a dispute before the buyer confirms receipt. We'd like your feedback on the new evidence notes.
