Characters on fan-run Diablo II servers
This section is for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction played on fan-run servers such as Project Diablo 2 and Path of Diablo. Each server has its own accounts, made on its own website and separate from Battle.net, and its own seasons. Buyers pay for a ladder character and its items on one server.
Seasons shape what a character is worth. Project Diablo 2's Season 14, Alliance, launches on 23 October at 10am PST after a closed beta from 10 to 18 October and an open beta from 19 to 21 October, and its ladders reset every six months. Path of Diablo starts a new ladder every four to five months.

Private server checks
Server and season
Ask which server the character is on and which season or ladder it belongs to. Ask too what happens to it at the next reset, because that changes what you are paying for.
The website account
The login is an account on the server's own website, such as projectdiablo2.com. Change its email and password during the deal.
The operator's rules
Every server sets its own rules. Check whether the operator lets accounts change hands before you pay.
No company behind it
These servers are unofficial. If one shuts down or wipes characters, there is no publisher to restore yours.
How to buy a Diablo 2 private server account safely
- 1Pick the Diablo 2 private server account you want and put your questions to the seller in the deal chat before paying.
- 2Click Buy with Escrow Protection and pay the price plus the 6% escrow fee. EPICSWP holds the money; the seller doesn't receive it yet.
- 3The seller hands over inside the deal chat, which is checked for common scam patterns.
- 4Change the email and password on the server's website account, then log in to the character yourself. Do all of it while your payment is still held.
- 5Confirm receipt once everything matches, which releases the payment to the seller. If something is wrong, open a dispute and a moderator decides.
Selling a Diablo 2 private server account
Name the server, the season and whether the character is ladder, and list the main items with screenshots. Say when the next reset is due.
Check your server's rules on account transfers first. Path of Diablo needs Diablo II and Lord of Destruction installed, so mention that for buyers new to it.
Most game publishers' terms don't allow accounts to be sold or transferred, and the publisher of Diablo 2 Private Servers can suspend an account that has been. Escrow protects your payment from the seller, but it can't overrule the publisher.
